Meet the 2K Dock Star: Terminal Tackle Built for Your Urchin's Biggest Skips

The Urchin Tackle lineup keeps growing, and so does the way anglers are fishing it. Over the past few months, one technique has produced more dock-fishing wins than anything else in the collection: skipping the Urchin bait deep under docks and laydowns. Today we're adding a piece of terminal tackle built specifically for that bite — the 2K Dock Star.

The Problem With Skipping a Full-Size Bait

Anyone who's tried to skip an Urchin under a dock knows the tradeoff: the bait's thick tentacles and dense core are exactly what make it so effective in the water, but they also grab a lot of water on the way there. That extra resistance slows the skip down and makes it hard to get the bait as far back under cover as you need it.

The Fix: A Reversed, Rear-Weighted Head

The Dock Star starts with the Dock Monkey — already known as the best skipping jig head 2K makes — and mounts it in reverse on the back of a 6/0 extra wide gap hook. Shifting the weight to the rear changes everything about how the rig moves through the air: it glides with almost zero line resistance, turns cleanly, and carries a full-size Urchin bait significantly farther on the skip than a standard head can. A reinforced wire keeper — beefed up specifically for this design — holds Urchin baits from 19mm up to 32mm securely in place, so the fit stays snug through cast after cast.

Built to Pair With the Urchin Star The Dock Star wasn't designed as a standalone jig — it's terminal tackle, built from the ground up to pair with Dan's most popular bait in the lineup, the Urchin Star. Rig them together and you get the profile and action that made the Urchin Star a favorite, now paired with a head built to skip that exact bait farther and cleaner under docks.
