The Urchin Keeps Evolving: Four New Products for October

Summer of 2026 is going to be remembered as the summer of the Urchin bait. Anglers and business owners will be talking about the '26 Urchin craze for the rest of their lives, and the one thing nobody can argue with is this: the Urchin flat out catches fish.

What has me most fired up is where it's going next. As the Urchin evolves and other baits start picking up its best qualities, new and productive products are coming out of it. What a time to be a bass angler.

This month I'm launching four new products built around that idea: a downsized Urchin you can fish on a wacky rig, a tungsten wacky jig built to match it, a quad hook that fills the last open rigging spot in our lineup, and a box tough enough to carry it all.

The Urchin Worm: Everything You Love About the Urchin, Downsized

The Urchin Worm takes all the best qualities of the Urchin Star: TPE construction, elastomer durability, super buoyancy, maximum tentacle action, and multiple rigging options. What sets it apart is the profile. It's a downsized finesse presentation, which makes it easier to fish, easier to rig, and easier to get bit.

Every angler from age 5 to 100 knows what a wacky rig is, how to rig it, and how to fish it. That's what makes the Urchin Worm so good. Wacky is our recommended presentation, and it's at its best on the new Tungsten Wacky Jig below.

Not a wacky rig fan? That's fine. The Urchin Worm is dynamite on a ball jig, a free rig, or a drop shot too.

The Tungsten Wacky Jig: Built for the Urchin Worm, and Every Other Wacky Worm in Your Box

We designed this jig to match the Urchin Worm perfectly. But as you all know, there are tons of wacky worms out there, and this jig works great with all of them.

  • Tungsten head on a 1/0 EWG Gamakatsu Finesse Wire hook, for maximum sensitivity.
  • A single fiber weed guard that deflects light cover without getting in the way of light line hooksets.
  • The size is stamped on the side of every head, so storage is simple and you grab the right one fast.
  • Four weight options, so you can control your drop speed no matter what material your worms are made of.

The Urchin Star Quad Hook: The Rigging Spot Our Lineup Was Missing

This hook wore me out. We started designing it back in May, and after multiple designs and testing sessions around the country, we finally landed on one that impressed everyone who fished it. And it flat out caught fish.

It's a high-end carbon steel needle-point quad hook. We're proud to say it's the sharpest quad hook on the market, and we're offering it at the best price point in the country.

Rigging the Urchin is a tricky process. Ask 10 anglers and you'll get 10 different answers on what works best. I'm not here to tell you which one that is. My job is to build multiple options so every angler is covered, and the quad hook was the one rigging spot our lineup still needed to fill. If you like keeping your hook on the top side of the Urchin, I don't think you can go wrong with this one.

Pair it with our Tungsten Nail Weights for maximum feel, drop speed, and bait control.

The Urchin Star Storage Box: Built to Take a Beating

This is our best Urchin storage solution yet, and the most heavy-duty Urchin box on the market. It can take all the abuse you're going to throw at it. Boat ride after boat ride, big wave after big wave, you'll find it intact and ready for the next trip.

The patent-pending adjustable rail insert lets you set the rail distance to fit every Urchin size and every manufacturer's wire length. Adjusting it takes nothing more than an Allen wrench.

My favorite part is the size. You can store 20+ Urchin baits in one box, and it still fits most boat tackle storage systems.
